I live in a rural area and there is a lot of wildlife around.I attached this to a small tree and left it for a couple of days, I was able to see a few animals, however most were small birds and sunlight activating it when there are shadows from the trees. This being said it has proven a great bit of fun for the kids as they can see what wildlife looks like up close and which animals are around where we live

I got this trail game camera to monitor my backyard as I have animals coming and going all the time. I managed to capture videos and photos of all sorts of animals during the day and night. I didn't have any problems with the camera but did notice that the video mode only goes up to 24fps with a 1080p resolution. I would've liked for the fps to be at least 60 so that I could have a video that isn't all choppy. As well, the instruction manual for this camera states that the camera is a 5MP CMOS sensor and any higher resolutions use interpolation. The product name shouldn't have 16MP in its title. As well, the instruction manual says the camera supports SD cards up to 32GB whereas the Toguard camera page says 64GB. I'm using a 256GB SD card and it's working fine.Overall, it's a good trail game camera, but there is misinformation between what is mentioned on Toguard camera and in the instruction manual.

Total Newbie - I wanted to see what was in the backyard (lots of wildlife traffic at night). I wasn??t sending pictures to a magazine or anything. This is an entry model. Just right for me but I also don't have anything to compare it to.Pros:No problems installing on the fence.Once the instructions were figured out it was OK to use.Cons:All those batteries ?C rechargeable would be nice.No memory card included? No download? The instructions were unclear in spots and once I had it programmed I never want to program it again??but I am not tech savvy.Bottom Line:It was perfect for me because it did what I wanted it to do. I will probably use it once in a while for fun. I wonder what my cat and dog get up to at night? Hmm.

This camera has A LOT to like, especially at its low price point. And spoiler alert: it's an excellent trail cam. However, it has a few interesting limitations which may not make it suitable for your application. Namely, home security - something this cam is advertised for. Overall though, if you want a trail cam that runs on AA's, including rechargeable ones then this is a great choice.I've used this camera for over a month to monitor our rural driveway before writing a review since I wanted to find out how well this camera works in our Canadian weather. I'm happy to report that in just over a week, this camera has survived rain, snow and several-25C nights, happily recorded events in -22C (there's a temperature stamp on pictures) and has recorded zero false positives over 100+ real events. And it has lasted for over a week using my old set of 8xAA rechargeable batteries, although your mileage may vary based on your settings and a number of events - you may be able to get a lot longer out of this cam. The camera also includes an option for an external 12V/1A power supply connection by the way. The camera overall is well made and fairly inconspicuous. The white 'NEEWER' logo on the front pops to the human eye but that's easily fixed with a piece of black or camo tape. The camera set up is pretty straightforward and the LCD screen is easy enough to see to quickly review pictures/videos as well. The camera comes with a permanent adjustable metal mount as well as a simple nylon strap that also holds the camera securely, but takes away some ability to angle the camera just right. I like that I can set a password on the interface to prevent someone from making use of the cam if they steal it, in addition to a physical lock ring on the camera body itself (it's more of a tamper seal than a security feature though). As mentioned earlier though, not all completely well. The camera has an excellent motion detection system with a 120 degree detection angle as well as the option to turn side detection off if need be (e.g. to minimize false alarms due to moving tree branches) and a quick trigger time. However, pretty much all pictures that the camera took have some motion blur to them - whether they are of people walking along or slow moving vehicles (5km/h) and regardless of time of day. This won't stop you from seeing that a deer or a bear has come by, but it would definitely not help you identify people or vehicle license plates. If you then select a 'picture + video' mode then the camera will take ~5 seconds to switch from taking a picture to starting a video recording. In my case this has resulted in 100% 'hits' on pictures and 95% misses on videos. If you are using this as a trail cam then you can definitely just use picture mode and save the battery. You can configure the camera to take multiple pictures for each event. And if you're using this for any sort of monitoring then you'd likely be best trying a video only option. The video quality and sound are quite decent for the price - think dash cam in this price range. So all in all, this is a really great trail cam, especially for the price and I'm a big fan of being able to use 8x rechargeable AA's instead of proprietary batteries. However, your mileage may vary for actually identifying people or vehicles.

Looking at the box I expected this to be a cheaply made piece of plastic. So far I'm impressed with how it has preformed. Image quality is good to great and the wire view angle captures everything in its zone of influence. I haven't had it in the rain yet so that will be a good test when it comes to it. Annnnd it's priced very fairly so that's always nice

This camera is super easy to setup. Pop the card and batteries in, set the settings to your liking and strap it to a tree. It spent a week outdoor where it dropped to around -12 degrees celsius on the coldest nights, with rain and snow on some of them. The good news is the camera is still working and damage free, but the bad one is that you can't see much at all on the single night motion trigger it snapped due to frost on the lens. A wild guess would put a small critter such as a squirrel on scene when this happened. So far, since I set it in a pretty open space and the fact that I am unsure of the range this device captures from, I've had little luck capturing any live footage. I will change a few settings and report back when and if anything comes up. I would say that overall, it takes good enough pictures (still very grainy) for its intended purpose, which is to track game. Don't expect this to be surveillance grade. It claims 6 months standby battery life but I can tell you that after a week and a grand total of 5 pictures, 3 video triggers, it's already down 3/4 so I really doubt you could leave it on active trails longer than about 2 weeks. I used 8x Eneloops for my testings.

This is our first experience of a 'wildlife' camera and we're impressed with it. For the money, I think it does an exceptional job. We've had suspicions that an invader has been coming into our conservatory at night and applying it's odorant. On the first night of using this camera, our suspicions were confirmed! We bought a decent micro 64Gb card with adaptor (from Toguard camera, of course), slapped in some batteries and selected Setup. Anyone with a basic understanding of video/cameras won't struggle with setting it up. I didn't read the instructions and managed to interpret the onscreen, attempted English into something I understood. The results of a night of recording gave us two false positives out of 7 triggers. That's fine by me. Depending on your settings (and activity), 64Gb will most likely cover you for months. I have this one set to record 30 seconds of video for each trigger. The daytime quality is great and the night vision isn't far behind.Positives: 1. Simple to understand 2. Plenty of accessories to meet all sorts of environments 3. Great battery life (experienced so far) 4. Great video for the task at handNegatives: 1. Given the price of the 64Gb card I bought, it should just be included 2. There must be a better power option nowadays? 3. Dubious reviewsHow is this used for hunting by the way???? Do the animals have the same technology? And if you have a rather large, tan and white feline in our area, please ask them to refrain!
